Community Policing
The Howell Police Department strives to build, strengthen, and maintain relationships with all members and organizations of the community. Officers conduct regular foot patrols in the Central Business District as well as in neighborhoods. They make contact with residents and business owners and answer questions and listen to the concerns and needs of the community.
Officers participate in activities and events such as the "Cram the Cruiser" food drive, Trunk or Treat, and the "Caught Being Safe" program. The department provides tours to groups from Schools, Scout Troops, and other organizations.
The department maintains a Crime Free Multi-Housing Crime Prevention program to work with the multi-family housing establishments in the city. This increases communication between the various establishments and the department and helps maintain a safe community and environment for all residents.
The department participates in a yearly fundraiser that allows the City to sponsor several families each Christmas. Members contribute and multiple families are provided with gifts for the holiday.
